BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Nine vintage bombs were detonated by the Army’s bomb disposal experts in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Saturday.

The bombs were found by a tractor operator as he was working in a sugarcane field in Barangay Batuan, according to Lt. Col. Egberto Dacoscos, chief of the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion.

The bombs could have harmed farm workers had they not been found immediately, Dacoscos said.

He urged residents who would discover unexploded ordnance to immediately report it to authorities for proper disposition.
