New 4th ID commander assumes post

MANILA, Philippines — Brig. Gen. Franco Nemecio Gacal is the new commander of the 4th Infantry Division (ID).

Maj. Gen. Ronald Villanueva turned over the post to Gacal in a change of command ceremony held at Camp Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday.

The 4th ID has jurisdiction over Eastern Mindanao, Caraga and parts of Northern Mindanao.  

“Plan well, think forward and use all available resources, maximize the participation of community and all stakeholders. Let us leave no breathing room for the enemy to regroup or regain foothold. Let us fight to win,” Army chief Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto, who led the change of command ceremony, told Gacal.
