Traveler yields ‘missing’ cell phone at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines — A traveler returned a cell phone he had “inadvertently” taken at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4 (NAIA-4) after he was accosted by airport authorities.
The incident was posted on Facebook by the owner of the cell phone, Alex Lor, who thanked Manila International Airport Authority general manager Ed Monreal and airport security personnel Hinna Joy Akbar.
Lor said that on Jan. 24, his cell phone went missing during the initial security check at the airport. A review of the closed-circuit television footage showed that another man picked up the tray containing Lor’s belongings.
The man, identified only as Ramos, boarded his flight and was scheduled to return to Manila on Jan. 28.
Lor filed a formal complaint with the airport security personnel, who questioned Ramos upon his return.
Upon being informed about the complaint against him and the surveillance video, Ramos claimed he inadvertently took the cell phone and had no intention to steal it.
Lor dropped his complaint against Ramos upon claiming his cell phone.
