TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — A barangay councilman and his companion were reportedly caught transporting a rifle and ammunition in Solana, Cagayan on Saturday.
Police identified the suspects as Marlon Millo, 35, of Barangay Gadu, and Jeffrey Baysa, 30.
Reports said the suspects were in a sport utility vehicle when they were pulled over by police officers manning a checkpoint of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Barangay Gadu.
Millo and Baysa were charged for violating the gun ban imposed by the Comelec in connection with the holding of the midterm elections.
