6 dead in Luzon road mishaps

MANILA, Philippines — Six persons died while nine others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Cagayan, Isabela and Pangasinan on Wednesday.

Erick Gealogo, 30, was declared dead on arrival at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center after  a truck hit his van in Amulung, Cagayan.

Gealogo was about to get off the van when the collision occurred at around 2:30 p.m. in Barangay Concepcion.

Two other passengers, Jhune Uraba and Jenie Remudaro, were taken to the same hospital for treatment of injuries.

Truck driver Novem Siaton reportedly admitted to authorities that he has no license.

In Isabela, Boy Paguirigan was driving a tricycle in Barangay Guibang, Gamu town when he was hit by a car driven by a minor.

Paguirigan was thrown off his tricycle and ran over by another car driven by John Carlo Manglanlan, 24. He died at the scene.

Manglanlan and the minor were brought to the police station for questioning.

On the same day, Sammy Antonio, 46, died after he fell off a tricycle and ran over by a van in Rosales, Pangasinan.

Reports said the tricycle, driven by Wilfredo Labrador, 54, swerved, causing the van to hit it.

Labrador and his passengers – Juana Roxas, 46, and Lydia Antonio, 41 – were injured in the incident.

In Alaminos City, Liberato Laya, 62, and Tirso Laya, 45, both of Barangay Cayucay, died after their tractor collided with a sport utility vehicle in Barangay Bolaney.

Tractor driver Leonardo Laya, 50; SUV driver Jefferson Peralta, 29, and his companion Frank Surdilla, 25, were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

In Villasis town, Charlie Butac, 49, was declared dead on arrival in a hospital following a collision of two motorcycles in Barangay Bacag.

Enrico Ubaldo, 35, driver of the other motorcycle that figured in the collision, was taken to the Dr. Marcelo Chan Hospital for treatment of injuries.
