12 Chinese nabbed for illegal online gambling

MANILA, Philippines — Twelve Chinese were arrested in Bacolor, Pampanga last week for allegedly operating an illegal online gambling site, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.

NBI deputy director Vicente de Guzman III identified the suspects as Chen Ya Ting, Chen Chengang, Sun Qiao Yan, Wei Bing, Lei Shi Feng, Gao Cheng Feng, Lin Jin, Wang Hai Tao, Wu Cheng Pin, Ruan Cheng Hui, Gao Fei and Chen Long Xi.

A certain Chen Hao Ren, who was responsible for recruiting the suspects, escaped.

De Guzman said the suspects arrive in the coutnry as tourists but end up working on clandestine online gaming sites, which are not sanctioned by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
