Hunt on for cop in murder of couple, son

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Police have launched a manhunt for a Caloocan City policeman accused of killing a couple and their son in Quezon City.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar ordered the pre-charge dismissal proceedings against Police Officer 3 Jerry Antonio.

Antonio went into hiding after he allegedly killed Romeo Ado, his wife Christine and their son Ado Jr. on Friday.

Eleazar ordered Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel, director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), to file a complaint for murder against Antonio today.

Tracker teams from the QCPD and the Caloocan City police were dispatched to go after Antonio.

Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Rolando Anduyan has relieved Antonio’s immediate superior, Senior Inspector Allan Apa, head of the mobile patrol unit.

Witnesses said they saw Antonio coming out of the victims’ house in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa after the killing.

The victims died at the scene from gunshots to the body. The couple’s three-year-old grandson was unhurt.

Probers said they were looking into revenge as a possible motive for the killing.

Antonio could have planted the drugs supposedly recovered by police from Christine’s pocket.

The couple had filed a complaint against Antonio for grave threats and violation of the anti-child abuse law.

The policeman allegedly pointed his handgun at Christine and her daughter and accused them of being drug suspects.
