BANGUED, Abra, Philippines — Members of the local party Asenso in this province have joined forces with the Hugpong ng Pagbabago of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Over 5,000 village, town and provincial leaders of Asenso led by Gov. Maria Jocelyn Valera-Bernos forged an alliance with Hugpong in ceremonies held on Tuesday.

“What Hugpong dreams of the Philippine society is what Asenso is also dreaming of Abra.  A clean and peaceful province. We have long wanted to shed away the stigma of a province wrought by violence,” Bernos said.

At least 25 of the 27 municipal mayors in Abra are members of Asenso.
