Village chief who hit teen surfaces at DILG

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A barangay chairman in Manila accused of beating up a 16-year-old boy surfaced at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) main office in Quezon City yesterday.

Felipe Falcon Jr., chairman of Barangay 350, Zone 35 in Sta. Cruz, appeared before DILG Undersecretary for barangay affairs Martin Diño.

Falcon has gone on leave for 15 days to pave the way for an impartial investigation on the case he is facing.

“I told him to face the charges filed against him,” Diño said.

Falcon allegedly hit the boy with a belt buckle in his office after the victim did not recognize him.

The assault only stopped when the victim’s father arrived.

The boy’s family has filed a complaint against Falcon for physical injury in relation to the Anti-Child Abuse Law with the Manila Police District’s women and children protection desk.

Claming the victim twisted facts, Falcon filed counter-charges of unjust vexation, slander by deed, direct assault and physical injury against the boy before the Manila prosecutor’s office.
