Typhoon-hit Pinoys in Saipan get aid
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has provided assistance to Filipinos affected by Typhoon Rosita (international name Yutu) in Saipan and other parts of Northern Mariana Islands, which was devastated by the typhoon before it made landfall in the Philippines.
The DFA yesterday said it will send teams from the Philippine Consulate General in Guam to the islands of Tinian and Rota to check on the condition of the Filipinos living in the US territory.
The agency said there are around 600 Filipinos in Tinian and another 300 in Rota.
Earlier, a team was also sent to Saipan to look into the situation of the some 15,000 Filipinos on the island.
Relief assistance were already distributed to at least 600 Filipinos in Saipan, including those staying in temporary shelters after their homes were destroyed or damaged by the typhoon.
