Roxas Boulevard closed Saturday for Jesus is Lord anniversary

MANILA, Philippines — Portions of Roxas Boulevard will be closed to traffic on Saturday for the 40th anniversary of the Jesus is Lord (JIL) Movement at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.

Three southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Kalaw street to P. Burgos Avenue, will be closed to motorists starting at 12:01 a.m., according to MMDA general manager Jose Arturo Garcia.

The remaining lanes would be closed at around 10 a.m. until Sunday.

The MMDA said one lane each of Kalaw street, Bonifacio Drive and P. Burgos Avenue would be used as drop-off points for buses carrying participants in the event.

Portions of Intramuros, Cultural Center of the Philippines and Philippine International Convention Center were designated as parking areas.

The MMDA said it would work with the Manila city government in managing traffic and ensuring the safety of the attendees.

The event, spearheaded by the JIL headed by CIBAC party-list nominee Bro. Eddie Villanueva, is expected to gather thousands of participants.
