DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go lauded barangay officials for their role in implementing the programs of President Duterte.

Addressing the convention of barangay officials of Calamba, Laguna at the Grand Regal Hotel in this city, Go said the government is able to deliver its services to the people with the help of barangay leaders.

“The country’s progress starts with the barangay. You are the ones directly interacting with the people. You are the ones they approach. Through you, government is able to deliver its services to them,” he said.

Go said barangay leaders are also active in the President’s campaign against illegal drugs and corruption.

In a recent interview, Go said he is open to putting up a Malasakit Center in Laguna. The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop program of the President to hasten the delivery of medical services and give poor patients access to free medicine.

“We’ll be discussing the matter with the Laguna provincial government as well as its mayors. We’ll check which hospitals in the province have the most complete facilities so that we can provide free health services,” Go said.
