Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

ALAMINOS CITY  , Philippines  —  Visitors to the Hundred Islands National Park in this city will have to pay a higher environmental fee.

The provincial board of Pangasinan has approved an ordinance increasing the environmental fee from P40 to P60 per person “to generate additional funds for the maintenance and development of... facilities and... other purposes.”

“With the current trend of guest arrival... there is a need to provide more facilities and manpower and at the same time maintain existing facilities to ensure the comfort of guests during their visits,” the ordinance read.

The city government said it also intends to expand its environmental protection programs, such as the propagation of giant clams and coral transplantation.
