2 NPA rebels killed in Agusan del Sur clash; 20 surrender

MANILA, Philippines — Two New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in an encounter with government troopers in Agusan del Sur on Sunday.

The fatalities were identified as Juan Precioso, 59, alias Max, and Dondon Montilla, 23, alias Amag, of the NPA’s North Central Mindanao Regional Command.

Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo showed the clash occurred in Purok 4, Barangay Oro, Esperanza.

Capt. Al Anthony Pueblas, 402nd civil-military operations officer, said a 9mm pistol with several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the fatalities.

In Ifugao, 20 communist guerrillas surrendered to the 54th Infantry Battalion in Asipulo town over the weekend.  

Soldiers also overran an NPA camp in Sitio Dibulod, Dicamay 2, Jones on Saturday. – Artemio Dumlao, Ding Cervantes
