Call center agent falls to death from ferris wheel
MANILA, Philippines — A call center agent died after falling off a ferris wheel he rode in an amusement park in Pasay City on Sunday.
Police identified the fatality as Jayson Asumbrado, 27, of Barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong.
Asumbrado died from massive head and body injuries at the Adventist Medical Center Manila at around 7:57 p.m.
“He supposedly forced opened the glass wall of the ferris wheel and jumped off the gondola,” probers said.
Two attendants of Star City in charge of the ferris wheel ride, Dexter John Ocreras and Jonathan Soberano, told police that they assisted the victim on his first ride at 5:20 p.m.
Asumbrado again rode the ferris wheel at around 7:40 p.m. and fell to his death.
The management of Star City promised to give financial assistance to Asumbrado’s family.
“There were signs of physical force. The gondola’s glass wall was cracked and its safety grills were bent,” Star City vice president for legal and regulatory compliance Rudolph Jularbal said.
“As far as we are concerned, our ferris wheel is considered one of the safest rides,” he said.
