Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — Authorities seized at least 350 goats after the people who transported them failed to present documents at a quarantine checkpoint in Barangay Bio, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur on Sunday.

Petereo Araza, 42, driver of the Mitsubishi Fuso carrying the goats, was arrested after a brief chase when he refused to pull over at the checkpoint.

The goats were turned over to the provincial veterinary office.

Chief Inspector Winnie De Vera, Ilocos Sur police spokesperson, said 17 native pigs were earlier confiscated after the driver of the vehicle carrying the animals failed to present the necessary permits.
