Parañaque hostage: 1 dead, 3 hurt

MANILA, Philippines — A man was killed while three others, including his partner, were injured after he took them hostage at a house in Parañaque City yesterday afternoon.

The hostage taker, known only as alias Celso, was declared dead on arrival at the Parañaque Community Hospital.

The suspect’s partner Roma Tubania, her sister Rose Ann de la Cruz, and Jerwin Ursal, 16, were taken to the hospital for treatment of stab wounds.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Leon Victor Rosete said the hostage-taking incident occurred at Lim Compound in Barangay San Dionisio at around 4:30 p.m.

Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics team immediately responded and shot the suspect before he could stab his two children.

Probers have yet to determine what drove the suspect to hold the victims hostage.
