San Juan feast day peaceful

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Wattah Wattah Festival in San Juan City to celebrate the feast of St. Joseph the Baptist was peaceful and orderly, Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito said yesterday.

“This year’s celebration was upbeat unlike in the past when incidents of stabbing and shooting happened because of the splashing of dirty water on commuters and passersby,” said Ejercito.

He said the festival showcased colorful floats and street dancing.

Five years ago, the city government banned the splashing of water on motorists and commuters to prevent violence from erupting.

San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez said local and foreign tourists gathered in the park along N. Domingo street and joined the festival.
