Man kills wife, lover caught cheating in North Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — A jealous husband killed his wife and her lesbian friend and wounded two neighbors who tried to pacify him in a bizarre incident Tuesday in Matalam, North Cotabato.

The suspect, Danilo Belgira, was killed in a subsequent shootout with a responding police team.

Superintendent Aldrin Gonzalez, spokesman of the Police Regional Office-12, said Belgira first killed using a .45 caliber pistol his wife, Evelyn, and her lesbian lover, Mira Luna Brigole, whom he caught having sex in one of the rooms in their house in Matalam.

He also shot and wounded their neighbors, Eduardo Dela Torre and Vivien Banes, who tried to disarm him.

Gonzalez said personnel of the Matalam municipal police tried to convince Belgira to yield peacefully but were forced to neutralize him when he resisted and opened fire.

Belgira died instantly from multiple gunshot wounds.
