1,000 students in Manila get P5-million aid
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,000 schoolchildren in Manila received P5 million from Mayor Joseph Estrada on Tuesday as part of the city government’s educational assistance program.
Estrada said beneficiaries of the program who are enrolled in public schools received P5,000 each.
“The assistance will augment their expenses for school needs such as uniform, shoes and other school supplies,” Estrada said during the distribution of educational assistance at the San Andres Sports Complex.
The beneficiaries are from the five districts of Manila, including Baseco Compound.
The students received the cash assistance ahead of the opening of classes in public schools on June 4.
Estrada advised the students to study harder to be able to fulfill their dreams.
