MANILA, Philippines – Members of Batch 1968 of the Lucban Elementary School recently got together to celebrate their 50th anniversary in style.
The momentous occasion was marked by a grand reunion last May 12 at the Golden Hall of Barangay Kilib in Lucban, Quezon.
Making up the “Punong Parisid” — a local term for the batch’s leaders — are Ben Faller (chairman), Andy Abuso (co-chairman), Regan Taguilinao (co-chairman), Asuncion Calpe (treasurer), Marilyn Babat (co-treasurer), and Rodolfo V. Maragay (auditor).
Kicking off the affair was an 8 a.m. mass presided by Fr. Alvin Pitahin at the San Luis Obispo Church. It was followed by a motorcade around the town proper.
After the motorcade was the program proper, which included parlor games and an award presentation.
Dr. Mario R. Ver, one of the country’s most recognizable orthopedic surgeons, was awarded the batch’s Most Outstanding Alumnus. Ver currently practices at St. Luke's Medical Center.
Several batchmates who ended up tying knot were likewise given special recognition.
Also gracing the event were the batch’s former mentors Felisa Montemayor, Elsinor Dator, Evangeline Zabayle and Clarita Baldovino.
