Ex-Sulu vice governor, mayor face raps over SALN

Michael Punongbayan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Former Sulu vice governor Nur-Ana Indanan Sahidulla and her husband former Banguingui mayor Abdulwahid Omar are facing charges before the Sandiganbayan for allegedly misdeclaring their joint statement of assets, liabilities and net worth in 2009.

The couple were recently indicted for perjury and violation of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The Office of the Ombudsman said the couple failed to declare ownership of a Toyota Hilux, a Mitsubishi  Strada and a 1,500-square-meter lot in Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City.

The couple made “willful and deliberate assertion of falsehood” when they did not declare ownership of the properties, the ombudsman said.

A bail of P16,000 each was recommended.
