MANILA, Philippines — A businessman wanted for killing his father in 2013 over his inheritance was arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), officials said yesterday.

Nelson Antonio was brought back to Manila on Sunday by operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Drug Enforcement Group and the police attache in UAE, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said.

Antonio is the subject of an Interpol red notice and an arrest warrant for parricide, CIDG chief Director Roel Obusan said.

Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 257 Judge Rolando How ordered Antonio’s arrest for allegedly killing his father Antonio Antonio on Sept. 11, 2013.

The businessman later admitted to prosecutors that he shot his father, who died from six gunshot wound at the family residence in BF Executive Homes in Parañaque. The younger Antonio surrendered to police in Las Piñas.

Prosecutors released Antonio when officials of Las Piñas and Parañaque could not agree on which unit had jurisdiction over the case.

Antonio left for Singapore on Dec. 28, 2013 and has been at large until his arrest by the UAE police, based on information provided by an overseas Filipino worker.
