Fake cop nabbed in Pasay
MANILA, Philippines — A tricycle driver was arrested in Pasay City Wednesday night for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
Felix Verona, 35, was pulled over for not wearing a helmet while driving his motorcycle along NAIA Road at around 9 p.m., according to the Southern Police District (SPD).
Verona was wearing a navy blue polo shirt and pants, with the shirt bearing the Philippine National Police (PNP) logo.
He introduced himself as a Police Officer 1, presenting a PNP identification card that was later found to be fake.
Police officers also confiscated a five-inch knife from Verona, who said he carried the weapon in case he gets in trouble.
Verona also admitted that he wanted to be a policeman and bought his uniform at Camp Crame, the PNP headquarters.
He was charged with usurpation of authority, illegal use of uniform and insignia and illegal possession of deadly weapon in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
He was still wearing the same uniform when he was presented to the inquest prosecutor.
