More loose guns recovered in Lanao del Sur

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Local officials of a town in Lanao del Sur surrendered 23 unlicensed firearms over the weekend. 

Maj. Ronald Escano, First Army Division spokesman, said officials of Pantao-Ragat led by Mayor Lacson Lantud turned over the the guns to Col. Robert Dauz, commander of the 2nd Mechanized Brigade under the Joint Task Force Ranao. 

The guns include Garand, M14, M16 and Carbine rifles.

Escano said at least 100 loose firearms have been recovered in Lanao del Sur since April 6. 

“We are expecting more from other municipalities,” he said.
