7 New People’s Army rebels surrender in Misamis, Cagayan
MANILA, Philippines — Seven New People’s Army (NPA) rebels have surrendered in Misamis Occidental and Cagayan.
Reneboy Empel and Junny Martizano surrendered to Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, Task Force Zampelan commander, in Barangay Tuno, Don Victoriano Chiongbian town on Wednesday. They were brought to the Army’s 101st Infantry Battalion for debriefing.
Charles Pinapin, 38; Meliton Tapaoan, 58; Edwin Balawag, 37, and Felipe Villanueva, 48, surrendered in Barangay Balani, Sto. Niño, Cagayan on Thursday.
Chief Superintendent Mario Espino, Cagayan Valley police director, said the rebels also turned over their shotguns and ammunition.
Jesus Bautista, 42, squad leader of Platoon Uno of the Central Front Unit Command of the NPA, surrendered to the office of Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy III also on Thursday.- With Raymund Catindig
