Another scam? Xian Gaza asks help for P160K despite bail bond fixed at P126K
MANILA, Philippines — Confessed scammer Xian Gaza has asked for help to come up with P160,000 for his temporary freedom, despite his bail bond fixed at P126,000 only.
Gaza, who went viral mid-2017 over a “billboard coffee invite," surrendered to the Malabon police on Thursday noon, following the warrant of arrest issued against him by the Malabon Metropolitan Trial Court over an alleged investment scam.
While behind bars, Gaza asked his “friends and supporters” to pitch in for his bail. He said he needs P160,000, but the Malabon Metropolitan Trial Court branches 56 and 120 fixed his bail at P126,000 only for 19 counts of violation of the anti-bouncing checks law.
In a video, he admitted to becoming a scammer and promised that he “really wants to change” his ways. He ended his appeal to his “friends and supporters” with his trademark “nyeam” expression.

The Malabon courts posted Gaza’s bail bond at P126,000: P2,000 each for the eight counts filed by Jaime Asuncion, and P10,000 each of the 11 counts filed by Melinda Cruz.
Asuncion and Cruz sought the court after Gaza asked them to invest in his coffee shop. They said that Gaza, who claimed to be a self-made businessman, owed them at least P2.6 million.
Gaza's Facebook posts, prior to his surrender, suggest he had been visiting different countries.
Gaza’s claim to fame was his billboard proposal to actress Erich Gonzales. The actress declined his invitation.
