CEBU CITY, Philippines — A jail officer was wounded in an ambush in this city yesterday.
Jail Inspector Edwin Sarcon was driving his Isuzu MUX (AEC- 6613) on his way to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology regional office when he was waylaid at the corner of Duterte and Rama avenues in Barangay Guadalupe.
Sarcon tried to fight back, but his gun jammed. He suffered a gunshot wound in the neck and was brought to a hospital along with a bystander who was hit by a stray bullet.
Senior Superintendent Joel Doria, Cebu City police chief, said the motive for the gun attack could be work-related. – Emmanuel Tupas
