GENERAL SANTOS, Philippines — At least 399 unlicensed rifles and handguns have been recovered from residents of Soccsksargen under the government’s campaign against loose firearms.

The firearms were turned over to the regional police office in this city on Friday.

Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales said they would keep the guns while the licenses are being processed.

North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat and the cities of Kidapawan, Tacurong, Cotabato, Koronadal and General Santo comprise Soccsksargen.
