MANILA, Philipines — Former Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn Monday posted P180,000 bail for his criminal cases which stemmed from his alleged misdeclaration of his assets for nine years.

Arriving with his lawyer and about half a dozen security escorts, Hagedorn appeared before the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division to post bail and to fill up some case registration documents.

The bail bond that Hagedorn posted was for nine counts of graft (P36,000), nine counts of perjury (P54,000) and nine counts of violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (P90,000).

Hagedorn posted bail even before the court determined if there is probable cause to proceed with the trial of the cases and to order his arrest.

Filed by the Office of the Ombudsman on March 17, the cases stemmed from Hagedorn's alleged false declarations in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) from 2004 to 2012.

The ombudsman said Hagedorn failed to declare his ownership of 59 real properties and 45 vehicles as well as his positions in six corporations including the Puerto Princesa Broadcasting Corp., of which he is said to be a board member.
