80 nabbed in drug operations

MANILA, Philippines -  At least 80 drug suspects were arrested under Oplan Double Barrel Reloaded in Luzon in the past two days.

Twenty were collared in Cavite, Batangas and Rizal and 12 in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan in a series of stings and raids  by police operatives and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Thursday.

Man-Man Oliva, a ”high-value” drug suspect, was nabbed yesterday after a raid on his house in Barangay Daclapan in Cabugao town in Ilocos Sur yielded sachets of shabu and paraphernalia.

Charito Arellano, 38, alias Bobot, and Remei Gonzaga, 42, alias Amboy, were nabbed for selling shabu to undercover agents in  Buguey, Cagayan.

 Maximo Rabida was arrested during a raid on his house in Sitio Luminanggas, Barangay Danicop in Virac, Catanduanes also yesterday. He reportedly yielded 10 sachets of shabu.

In Pangasinan, 33 suspects were arrested during simultaneous raids on Thursday. Police said 72 sachets of shabu were seized.

Among those arrested were tricycle driver Marvin Maga, the most wanted drug personality in Burgos, and Marlon Umayam, who was ranked third on the watchlist of Balungao.  

P.6-M marijuana plants seized

In Ilocos Sur, marijuana leaves with an estimated street value of over P600,000 were seized during a raid on a plantation in Barangay Lapting in Nagbukel on Wednesday.

The owner of the plantation, identified as George Cabalar, alias Tomas, eluded arrest.

3 die in shootings

Meanwhile, police are investigating if gun attacks that left three persons dead were drug-related.

Ryan Navarro, 33, was in front of his house when he was shot at close range in Barangay Santulan in Naic, Cavite at around 2:10 a.m. yesterday.

Security guard Jason Quizon was manning his post at the Metrovil subdivision in Barangay Balibago in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna when an unidentified man opened fire on Thursday night.
