Cotabato power tower bombed

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Unidentified men bombed Tower 138 of the Kibawe-Kabacan 138-kiloVolt line in Barangay Kayaga in Kabacan, Cotabato on Wednesday.

It was the first power tower bombing this year, Bambi Capulong, spokesperson for the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in Mindanao, said yesterday.

Capulong said the tower sustained minor damage. She said they would conduct an inspection and repair the tower as soon as the area is secured.

The NGCP wants the immediate resolution of right-of-way issues between the owners of lots where the towers are located and the National Transmission Commission.

It is also appealing to the government and the public, including community leaders, to help identify the perpetrators of power tower bombings to prevent blackouts.
