QC fire leaves 700 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines – Around 700 families were left homeless when a fire broke out at a residential area in Quezon City yesterday afternoon.

City fire marshal Senior Superintendent Manuel Manuel said at least 230 houses in Barangay Damayang Lagi were razed by the fire at past 2 p.m.

Fire Officer 3 Paulito Pasco and Billy Liwanag, 44, suffered minor injuries.

The blaze, which started at the house of Ryan Cano, reached Task Force Alpha before it was put out at around 5:20 p.m.

Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Damage to property was placed at P1.5 million.
