Another Cavite fire victim dies
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Another employee of the House Technology Industries Ltd. (HTI) who was injured in a fire that hit the Cavite Export Processing Zone last week has died.
Richard Sargento, 33, died at the Divine Grace Medical Center at around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, said Senior Superintendent Sergio Soriano, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) director.
More than 100 HTI workers were injured in the fire.
Sargento was among those earlier reported in critical condition. Eleven others were confined in the intensive care unit.
Jerome Sismaet died at the same hospital on Saturday.
The BFP and Department of Labor and Employment are conducting parallel probes into the fire.
Damage to property was placed at P15 billion.
