MANILA, Philippines - Seven students from Lyceum of the Philippines in Manila have been implicated in the hazing of an 18-year-old daughter of a town mayor in Batangas, police said yesterday.
The seven are among the 13 persons identified by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in the hazing of Larissa Coleen Alilio, a tourism major at Lyceum and daughter of Lemery Mayor Eulalio Alilio.
Members of the Tau Gamma Sigma sorority beat Alilio and poured hot wax on her during initiation rights in Las Piñas City on Jan. 8. The student was hospitalized following the incident.
“We have their full names. They were identified by the victim,” Chief Inspector Romeo Lanzarote, who heads the CIDG unit at the Southern Police District, said in a phone interview.
Lanzarote declined to divulge their names as they have yet to file charges against the suspects. A source earlier identified one of these students as Princess Villeza, Alilio’s alleged recruiter.
