Court freezes assets of ‘shabu cop’

SPORTING CHANCE - Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Makati regional trial court (RTC) has frozen the assets of a policeman arrested on drug charges in May last year.

Executive Judge Elmo Alameda of RTC Branch 150 issued a six-page asset preservation order (APO) dated Jan. 24, which prohibits Police Officer 2 Jolly Aliangan from doing any transactions involving his assets.

Aliangan, who was a member of the National Capital Region Police Office’s anti-illegal drug unit, has five multimillion-peso bank accounts, three vehicles and a piece of property under his mother’s name in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

All of his bank accounts, vehicles and property under his mother’s name are covered by the court’s APO.

The National Bureau of Investigation arrested Aliangan along with his wife Rosalie and nephew Jeffrey Gutierrez for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunitions and Obstruction of Justice.

Recovered from the suspects were P6.9 million in cash and around 100 grams of shabu.
