LPA to bring rains in Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines – The state weather bureau warned residents of eastern and central Mindanao yesterday against moderate to heavy rains due to a low pressure area (LPA), which is expected to intensify into a cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours. 

The LPA was spotted at 465 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 4 p.m. yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

 The LPA will be named Auring once it intensifies into a cyclone. 

PAGASA said the weather system would affect the regions of Caraga, Davao and Soccsksargen.

PAGASA said the rest of Mindanao and Eastern Visayas would have cloudy with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms this weekend. 

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan will continue to bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon. and Aurora.        

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, the Cordilleras, Ilocos  region and Central Luzon.
