Regencia’s lawyers want to question witness anew

ILIGAN CITY , Philippines – Lawyers of detained mayor Celso Regencia wanted a witness in the multiple murder and frustrated murder charges filed against him to appear in court anew for cross examination.

Regencia’s lawyers made the appeal during last Friday’s hearing for a petition for bail at a Quezon City court in Metro Manila.

The petitioners said they have not completed cross examining Dominador Tumala.

Judge Ferdinand Baylon granted the defense’s request for Tumala to appear in court anew and set the hearings on Dec. 14, and Jan. 11 and 20 next year.

Regencia was tagged as the mastermind in an attempt to kill former Iligan congressman Vicente Belmonte.
