MANILA, Philippines — The University of Santo Tomas (UST) and the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) were the top performing schools in the September 2016 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

UST got the top spot in the elementary level with a passing rate of 97.79 percent while UP Diliman topped the secondary level with 96.84 percent.

Mark Penuliar Castillo, a graduate of Tarlac State University (Tarlac College of Technology), topped the elementary level with 88.20 percent. On the other hand, Richard Cabuay Macapulay also an alumnus of Tarlac State University topped the secondary level with a score of 90.00 percent.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board for Professional Teachers on Monday announced that 23,378 elementary teachers out of 77,466 examinees or 30.18 percent and 31,334 secondary teachers out of 92,754 examinees or 33.78 percent passed the LET given last September 25.

Of the elementary teacher passers, 21, 896 were determined to be first timers while 1,482 were repeaters. For the secondary teachers, the PRC said 28,957 were first timers while 2,377 were repeaters.

The LET results were released after 48 working days from the last day of the board examinations held at designated testing centers nationwide.
