4 dead in Bacolod road mishap

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  – Four workers died while 14 others were injured in a vehicular accident in this city on Saturday morning. 

Armen Algabre of Misamis, Lito Tuyogon of Negros Oriental, Jerwin Dotosme and Regie Vargas, both of Cebu, were on their way to work when their truck figured in an accident along the circumferential road in Barangay Taculing.

Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel, commander of city police Station 6, said the truck driver tried to overtake a motorcycle, but he lost control of the wheel.

The vehicle swerved and hit a power post before falling on its side. Some of the victims were thrown from the truck. 

Algabre and Tuyogon died at the scene, while Dotosme and Vargas were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Truck driver Romel Labang of Cebu suffered minor injuries and is being held at the police station jail.

Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homi.cide and multiple physical injuries would be filed against Labang.
