Top Guimaras drug suspect slain in shootout

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – The most wanted drug personality in Buenavista, Guimaras was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers on Monday.

Giovanie Enaño, 43, a resident of Barangay Banban, resisted arrest after he was caught selling shabu to an undercover agent at around 3:15 p.m., said Chief Inspector Raymond Cruz, Buenavista police chief.

“Our policemen were in imminent danger and have no recourse but to shoot him,” Cruz said.

The suspect was pronounced dead on arrival at the Buenavista District Hospital.

Police nabbed Enaño’s partner Queenie Espinosa and Robel Davis, the couple’s alleged runner. The suspects yielded 12 sachets of suspected shabu.

Meanwhile, suspected drug pusher Christopher Bocalan was shot dead by unidentified men on a motorcycle in Barangay Amaya 2 in Tanza, Cavite on Monday.

Senior Superintendent Eli-seo Cruz, Cavite police director, said more than 10 drug suspects were also arrested in a series of raids in Tanza, Silang and Imus and the cities of Bacoor and Dasmariñas.

Rammel Dalizon, who was ranked fourth on the list of drug suspects in Camarines Sur, eluded arrest during a raid on his house in Barangay Caranan in Pasacao town on Sunday.

Police recovered four guns, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and seven sachets of shabu in the raid.

A top drug suspect in Banga, South Cotabato was arrested at his residence in Barangay Punong on Monday.

Virgilio Brillo Jr. reportedly operated a drug den that distributes shabu to Surallah, Sto. Niño and Noralla towns. His  cohorts Winson Paneza, Archie Duquiza and Jerry Galagar were arrested in follow-up operations yesterday.  – Jennifer Rendon, Ed Amoroso, Cet Dematera, John Unson, Romina Cabrera
