Court orders Leyte board member’s arrest
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – A member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Leyte has been ordered arrested over the death of her house helper in 2012.
Carigara Regional Trial Court Judge Emelinda Maquilan denied the motion for judicial determination of probable cause filed by Anlie Apostol and issued a warrant of arrest for the respondents in the case.
Apostol, Vilma Obaob, Alfredo Obaob and Emmanuel Santos had been charged with murder for conspiring to kill Dennie Mesias.
Apostol denied the accusation, saying the case was politically motivated. She ran, but lost for mayor of Carigara town.
Her counsel Leo Giron said they would elevate the case to the Court of Appeals.
