3 NPA rebels nabbed in Butuan
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were arrested in Butuan City yesterday.
The arrest of Roldan Bunggolto, Danilo Acania and Jake Borja was based on warrants issued by a local court, said Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez, spokesman for the Army’s 4th Infantry Division.
Bunggolto is the head of the so-called Militia ng Bayan in Agusan del Norte while Acania is the group’s former deputy secretary. Borja has pending warrant for frustrated murder and multiple murder.
An M16, an AK47 and sniper rifles, a .38-caliber and a .22-caliber pistols, two hand grenades and an improvised explosive device as well as subversive documents were among those recovered from the rebels.
