Drought-hit communities get water supply
MANILA, Philippines - In line with its program to provide assistance to drought-hit communities, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) distributed 348,000 liters of drinking water to two barangays in Sarangani.
The PRC’s General Santos City and Sarangani chapters in coordination with the local government unit initiated water distribution in Barangay Poblacion in Malapatan town and Purok Sto. Niño in Barangay Poblacion in Alabel.
“Providing water is part of our coordinated response to alleviate the suffering of those who are being affected by the drought. In coordination with local government units and provincial governments, we are also assisting in relief distribution efforts in certain provinces,” said senator-elect Richard Gordon, concurrent chairman of the PRC.
Aside from water rationing, the PRC also conducted rice and food distribution in General Santos City and Sarangani.
