Eastern Visayas cops to get housing aid
PALO, Leyte, Philippines – At least 3,225 police officers and non-uniformed personnel in Eastern Visayas whose houses were damaged by Super Typhoon Yolanda will finally receive cash assistance from the Office of the President.
President Aquino released P173.5 million as housing assistance for Eastern Visayas police personnel, Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Franco, director for police community relations, announced yesterday.
Franco said P100,000 would be given to those who lost their homes and P30,000 to those whose houses were damaged by the typhoon.
“It took us a long time to release this cash assistance for police personnel in the region who were victims of Yolanda because of the long process of validation…finally it is here,” he said.
Other government employees, including teachers and local government personnel earlier received the same cash assistance from the Office of the President.
“We are grateful for this help. Better late than never .It will be a big help to rebuild our house,” Chief Inspector Mark Nalda, PNP-Region 8 spokesman, said.
