MANGALDAN, Pangasinan, Philippines – A candidate for councilor in this town died of heat stroke during a campaign sortie on Monday.
Alfred Soriano, who was seeking reelection under the Liberal Party, collapsed after complaining of dizziness during a political rally in Barangay Alitaya.
Soriano’s son Aldrin confirmed his father’s death on his Facebook account.
Ana Maria Teresa de Guzman, Pangasinan health officer, said the risk of heat stroke, especially among infants, children and senior citizens, is high during summer.
