Rescued sea turtle released back to sea

Jun Elias - The Philippine Star

LUNA, La Union, Philippines – An olive ridley sea turtle that was found weak along the shore in Barangay Basea in this town was released back to the sea yesterday.

Bernardo Ayala, who was collecting pebbles when he saw the turtle last week, reported the incident to Luna Mayor Victor Marvin Marron, who referred the turtle to concerned authorities.

Tito Gorospe, municipal environment management officer, said the turtle is 40 inches long and 35 inches wide and about 25 to 30 years old.

Authorities said the turtle was weak because it was pregnant.
