NPA rebels harass tourists in Surigao

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels have reportedly harassed tourists at the Hinatuan Enchanted River in Surigao del Sur.
First Lt. Karl Jan Devaras, commander of the 41st Civil Military Operations, said members of the NPA guerrilla front committee 14 pulled over vehicles entering and leaving the eco-tourism site and inspected their belongings at gunpoint.
Devaras said pursuit operations against the rebels have been launched.
