German found dead in yacht off Surigao Sur

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A German was found dead in a yacht drifting in the waters off Barobo, Surigao del Sur on Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Manfred Fritz Bajorat, based on documents they found in the yacht marked “Sajo.”

The body was decomposing when found in the radio room by a group of fishermen led by Christopher Rivas, 23.

Investigators said Bajorat could be the owner of the yacht.

The fishermen told police they were on their way home when they saw the yacht with a broken sail at around 4:30 p.m.

Rivas said out of curiosity, they entered the yacht and found the body.

The fishermen towed the yacht and were able to reach the shore on Friday afternoon.

Police have yet to determine the cause of Bajorat’s death.

Police have informed the German embassy in Manila about the incident.
