Bohol swim is my toughest – Pinoy aquaman

BACLAYON, Bohol – Triathlete-lawyer Ingemar Macarine, alias Pinoy Aquaman, described his solo swim crossing the Pamilacan Island to this town on Sunday as the toughest.

Macarine, who slept on the island a day before the swim, said he changed course more than 10 times because of the rough seas.

He said he was going against the current on his way to this town’s port.

Macarine clocked five hours and 59 minutes for the 15.5-kilometer swim, which he started at 5 a.m.

He said he was supposed to arrive in Dauis town if he followed the current, but it slowed down and headed for the port here.

Macarine’s swim was meant to promote local tourism and clean seas. He said waters around Pamilacan Island are pristine.

He said he swam three to four times a day and read the Bible to prepare himself for the Bohol event.

Macarine was welcomed by members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines–Bohol chapter and residents when he arrived at this port.
